If you have any form of mechanical sympathy, you wouldn't ride a bike to it's limit, unless you're; 1, racing it. 2, 17 years old. 3, riding a 50 cc scooter. I think you're expecting too much from the little beastie. Where I live (Minimum 5280'), cruising speed at about 80% power is 50 to 55mph. Sure, she'll go faster, but no motor will last long at 100% power all the time. Cheers, Dan K. | Re: Top speed? I would like to cruise 120km/h for an hour, is that hard on it? I travel on freeways every working day regarless of the weather. If I was to nominate a realistic average top speed, considering evironmental and mechanical factors, I'd say a true 90km/h is the top speed of these bikes. Will my bike go a true 110km/h (16T front sprocket makes the speedo pretty close) when there is no wind, sure..... just can't stop it effectively from this speed, even with upgraded brake pads. Any wind blowing over 15 knots and you're getting blown all over the place at speeds over 90. Plain dangerous. If you needs regular and safe speeds of 100+ then I reckon the answer is simple, you need a bigger bike than an XT.
